Transforming unloved fabric into utility-inspired accessories with Uskees deadstock project

We’ve been working on a project here at Uskees HQ which we're excited to finally be sharing with you.

You may have already seen on social media a sneak preview of our new deadstock project. It’s the first instalment of a project which will continue to drop alongside our regular collections.

We’ve sent our design team around the UK, seeking out quality leftover fabrics which would have otherwise gone to waste. They were inspired by what they found.

The result is three limited edition utility-inspired deadstock bags: introducing the basin bag, the bucket bag and the barrel bag.

These three new pieces are all about durability, usability and sustainability. Properly useful bits of kit you’ll reach for every day, made from midweight 300gsm cotton canvas. Plus, they’re all made from unloved cuts of fabric which may have otherwise ended up in landfill. These bags are the definition of wearable, roomy and uncomplicated.

The basin is a large, tapered tote with external pockets in a contrasting colour, press stud detailing and a super useful internal zipped pouch utilising deadstock metal buttons. It’s perfect for grocery shopping or weekends away.

The bucket is a monochrome bag, utilising an upright cylindrical shape, drawstrings and press studs for a military-inspired feel. A great kit bag for getting outdoors or popping to the shops.

The barrel is a versatile piece. With shoulder straps and handles, it’s easy to grab and go. For sportswear, trips away or everyday use. Contrasting canvas creates a distinctive look, with really useful outer pockets.

We took the bags on a city centre road test recently, see the photo diary courtesy of photographer George Heaton and stylist Dillon Ware-Lane.

Keep an eye on social media where we will be revealing more behind the scenes of the making of our deadstock pieces, and make sure you're signed up to the mailing list to be notified when these limited edition bags are available to buy.
